Pike Peak Trekking
Sherpa Heritage trail or Pike Peak Trekking is newly opened remote trekking trail in Everest region. This trail is full of beauty; culture and nature. We can observe Sherpa people and their culture, view of east to west northern Himalaya range from Kanchanjunga to Annapurna Mountain. We hike along the ridge and saddle passing through the colorful rhododendron, pine, maple and other trees forest. We can see mountains, hills and different landscape from very beginning day to last day.
This is me Rai, professional Nepalese trekking and tour guide. I was in Pike peak trekking in this week, April 2018, with British and Costa Ricans. Trip was organized by authorized trekking agency Sherpa Heritage Trails Pvt. Ltd.
We took Jeep for 8 hours from Kathmandu to Pattale (250km). First overnight was in Pattale with Mountain View at the height of 2740 mt.
2nd day after breakfast we hiked 6 hours to Jhapre (2820 mt) via Singane. We had Dal Bhat in Singane. There are 3 lodges, Monastery and Stupa in Jhapre. We observed old monastery and many mountains including Everest.
3rd day we hiked 7 hours to Pikey base camp (3640 mt). We had fresh cooked veg fried noodles on the way. Many domesticated yaks were moving and grazing in many places. There are 2 lodges in Pike Base camp. The base camp was under the fogginess cloud.
4th day we been on the top of Pikey peak in the chilly morning before breakfast. Weather was very good, visibility was so clear. We had wonderful view of long Himalaya range, hills and spectacular landscape. We had bird eye view from Pike top to down green valley. We saw the Numbur Himal very close, and other many mountains along side. We saw Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Makalu, Chamlang, Gaurishankar and many more mountains. We moved Jase Bhanjyang (3520 mt) for overnight.
5th day we hiked 5 hours from Jase Bhanjyang to Junbesi (2700mt). Junbesi is a Sherpa village, more facilities available there. We were lucky that we got chance to observe Dumji festival and Sherpa dance competition in Junbesi Monastery.
6th day we explored Thupten Choling Monastery (3010 mt). There were many nuns, a few monks and students. We observed their daily life activities.
7th day we hiked to Phaplu for next day flight for Kathmandu.
